The side effects of Radiation treatment can be painful burns, skin lesions and bone loss. Of course it is different with everyone, depending on their personal sensitivity and on the amount of radiation received. These sores can reappear years after treatment. In Paul's case, treatment was aggressive because the cancer was very advanced. He suffered large, black, bleeding sores for several months. The ear and tongue on the treated side shrank by two thirds permanently.
